Data Methodology

Benchmarks

Each dataset retains its own specification, region, currency and unit. Retail component prices, wholesale chip assessments and indicative vessel newbuilding prices are separate benchmarks, not interchangeable prices.

Published figures may be incomplete or delayed. Newbuilding assessments are not secondhand values, charter rates or freight rates.

Observations and Gaps

Historical tables retain observation dates. Monthly or weekly data are not expanded into invented daily quotes. Missing reports remain gaps. Prices marked as estimated are not used for indexable observed-price pages.

Price Changes

Table changes compare successive observations. Period changes use the most recent recorded observation on or before the target date and show that comparison date. Sparse records are not interpolated. Periods without sufficient coverage are omitted. As-of dates are the latest recorded dates, not a claim of real-time updates.

Access and Corrections

CSV access continues to use the existing account permissions. To report an error, request a dataset or contact the site, use Request / Contact. All public-source data is for reference only, not financial or purchasing advice.
