Market Pulse Scope's North American cobalt metal marker fell 9.0% over seven sessions to $35,705 a tonne on Oct 19, as hopes of a further tightening in Congolese export quotas went unmet and Chinese electrolytic cobalt, cobalt sulphate and cobalt chloride all posted weekly losses.
LME three-month tin fell through $50,000 a tonne for the first time since June while the China domestic tin price tracked on Market Pulse Scope slid 10.0% on the week to CNY 373,650 a tonne.
Market Pulse Scope's North American silver series has fallen 7.7% in seven sessions to about $56 a troy ounce, the steepest weekly drop in the precious complex this year, after a hot US CPI repriced the Fed and lifted real yields.
Fatalities at Codelco's El Teniente added to a run of weather and labour disruptions in Chile, keeping copper close to last month's record near $15,000 a tonne, while Kazakhstan's central bank became a gold seller and steel demand was revised lower.
Three-month copper closed at $14,550 a tonne, up 1.79% on the day and about 2% on the week, as strikes at Antofagasta and Centinela threatened Chilean output while LME-registered copper stocks fell to a six-week low.
Copper closed the week 2% higher on the London Metal Exchange at $14,540 a tonne, supported by a six-week low in LME-registered stocks, a four-year high in a gauge of Chinese import demand and a widening strike at Antofagasta's Centinela mine in Chile.
